Meet the Communication Librarian

My name is Sharon Van Der Laan and I am the Subject Librarian for the School of Communication.

I created this guide for students in Dr. Steve Perry's COM 312 class. The guide includes a sampling of Milner Library resources that may be used to find information about the history of broadcasting.  Some of the resources are or include primary resources.

If you need assistance with questions related to your research, the use of Milner Library's online and physical collections, or would like to schedule an appointment for an individual research consultation, please contact me. I will be happy to help!

Reference Desk Service

Milner's Reference Desk service is available many hours during the week as well as on the weekend.  If you need immediate assistance and are unable to reach me, please IM or Text a librarian at the Desk via the Quick Help box below or in the Quick Help box on the Library's home page.

Reference librarians are available at the Reference Desk to answer questions:

Sunday: 12:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.
Monday - Thursday: 8:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m.
Friday: 8:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
Saturday: 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
